Things are settling down

Took Blossom to the vets today for disbudding despite her being older than usual, 14 days instead of the usual 4 – 7 days.  Because she was very small at birth and is still quite small we delayed the procedure, but her horn buds were showing definate signs of growth so we couldn’t delay any longer.  The vet was confident she would be fine and we’re pleased to say it went smoothly and she is back with mum.  Next up will be Angelica who is due in about 2 weeks time when we will have to go through it all over again.

Gary has managed to get some more seeds sown and has got onions and potatoes in outside. The potatoes in the polytunnel are well up now and will soon be ready to give us nice new potatoes.   We’ve sown lettuces, tomatoes, spinach, carrots, peas, french beans, summer cabbages and cauliflowers etc and even put in some Globe Artichokes in pots.  We are also going to try and grow some asparagus from seeds, which we have never done before.  The outside plot still needs to be dug over and although we have had  some dry spells, every time Gary gets enough time to do the digging, the weather changes!  We desperately need to get some cabbages, cauliflowers and brussels in the outside beds.

Summer is definately on its way.
