27th August – Quinn & Co – Day 3

8.30am start today. Yet another disturbed night by Thor who woke us up at 3.30am! This time I just let him out into the windbreak and left him to it. He came back in after 5 minutes and, thankfully, went back to sleep, so not too bad a night.

Our Hosts provided a full English Breakfast for us this morning with all the trimmings! What stars!

The dogs have to be on their leads today as one couple got rather inebriated last night and went to bed leaving their dog to its own devices. We were informed that the dog had scratched someone’s car, and as a result they may not be invited back! Shame really how some people just spoil things for everyone. The dogs were so well behaved yesterday and had a lot of fun and exercise but, because of one irresponsible couple, everyone else has to pay!

Today there will be an informal and fun ‘dog show’ with a few ‘day visitors’ participating too. It’s due to start at 2pm but with everything that has been happening I doubt it will be on time! Not sure if we are leaving tomorrow or staying until Tuesday, but just in case we have booked onto a site at Isleham, near Mildenhall, Suffolk.

The dog show started at 2.30pm and there were several different categories that you could enter. Between us, I entered Thor for 4 categories, and Irene entered Lucy for 4 and Dexter for 5. Thor came second in the ‘most handsome dog category’ and came first in the’Best Condition’ category! Dexter came second in the ‘Fancy Dress’ category dressed as a ‘bovver boy’ in denim jacket and hat! Lucy, sadly didn’t get placed in any category but they got a ‘medallion’ just for entering. It was great fun that’s for sure.

Overall the whole weekend was great fun and well worth the effort of attending. We had unlimited tea & coffee all weekend, Bacon Butties on Saturday morning and a barbecue in the evening, plus breakfast and Barbecue on the Sunday, all included in the price of £25 for the weekend, which also included electric! There were approximately 40+ Doberman so in attended and, apart from a few minor skirmishes, all the dogs got along really well. There was even a massive raffle held on the Sunday afternoon and after spending a few quid on tickets, we came away with prizes worth far an excess of the cost of the weekend. It was really well organised.

We were made to feel very welcome and there was a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere. We will make a point of going again if we get the chance.
